24 Goals as a 24-Year-Old

One of my favorite times of the year is when I sit down to come up with my next year’s list of goals. I love this exercise because it allows me to think about what I want to accomplish in the coming year while pushing me to think outside the box and to challenge myself.

This year has been no different. I took a long look at last year’s goals and did my best to come up with ones that would build on those while encouraging me to tackle activities that I’ve wanted to try for quite some time (e.g., traveling abroad).

The most appealing aspect of this new list is how there are more experiential goals. Last year’s list included quite a few ambiguous goals, but this year’s, while still having a few of those, has many more specific goals that I look forward to attempting. So without any further ado, here are the goals I’ll be working hard to complete this year:

  1. Publish 52 blog posts*
  2. Travel abroad ✔️
  3. Try an old hobby*
  4. Buy something for a stranger
  5. Try paddleboarding*
  6. Become politically knowledgeable
  7. Cook 52 new recipes
  8. Break a bad habit
  9. Adopt a more minimal lifestyle*
  10. Be kind
  11. Learn about etiquette*
  12. Explore under the sea*
  13. Teach someone to read
  14. Discover my ancestry
  15. Decrease my debt by $10,000
  16. Contribute financially toward someone’s education
  17. Try a fitness program*
  18. Participate in a silent retreat
  19. Learn how to roast coffee
  20. Don’t spend anything for a week
  21. Pull an all-nighter
  22. Teach a class
  23. Try a food I can’t pronounce
  24. Become more fiscally responsible*

Bring it on, twenty-four!

*Starting a new job caused me to alter some of the goals I’d set for a year I planned on living in Ohio, so these are the ones that were changed.
